Build A Cell Phone Charger using 9v Batteries
I ride my bike a lot, and use my iphone to track my rides
On a long ride, the iphone battery goes dead, so I wanted a way to charge the battery while I ride
I could have purchased a battery pack that connects to an Iphone, but I wanted to use 9v batteries, and I did not want to buy a battery pack
Materials needed:
1 – Cigarette Lighter Charger (male) 2 – Alligator Clips 2 – wires to connect alligator clips to Charger 1 – 9v battery clip 1 – 9v battery I removed the 9v battery clip from a dead 9v battery, and soldered 2 wires to the clip
I clipped the positive wire to the center connector on the power adapter, and the ground wire to the sleeve of the power adapter
The adapter is completed, you will need to attach a 9v battery to the clip, and install the clips on the power adapter, plug in a charging cable and charge your phone
So how does it work? GREAT
I carry a few 9v batteries when I ride and mount my phone on the handlebars, run the cable to the charger and my phone lasts an extra hour, and I can carry extra batteries
You can also wire to a 12v car battery to have infinite battery life, very useful in a power outage
My phone battery lasts about 3 hours while riding, so the 9v battery charger will extend my phone’s battery life
