Wilbert Carl Moore 1938-2021 Obituary
Wilbert Carl “Bill” Moore, age 83 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Monday, June 28, 2021, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital at Marietta, OH.
He was born Thursday, June 23, 1938, at Leadmine, St. George, WV, a son of the late William B. Moore and Bessie M. Jeffries Moore. On April 7, 1984, at Hambleton, WV, he was married to the love of his life Sharon K. Rucker, who preceded him in death November 16, 2019.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas Wellman of Martinsburg, Wilbert “Billy” Moore, II and wife Kristen of Catharpin, VA; four daughters, Patricia Earheart and husband Wayne of Martinsburg, Melinda Simmons of Elkins, Norma Louk and husband Jimmy of Beverly and Katherine McCroskey and husband Brandon of Walker, WV; four step-children that he loved as his own, Garon Johnson, Krista Ransbottom, Sherilyn Martin, and Tomorrow Frampton and husband Bobby, all of Charleston; one brother, Earl Moore of Parsons; three sisters, Rosalie Lower of Montrose, Ida Workman of Parsons and Wanda Perry of MI; thirty-six grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are one brother, Howard Moore; one grandson, Kenneth Falls; and one great-grandson, Liam White.
He attended the schools of St. George and Parsons High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a pig farmer in Michigan, was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Comp., was a timber-cutter in the Tucker Co. area, and later operated his own timber cutting business in Charleston, WV. Along side his wife Sharon, they owned and operated Grandpa’s Snacks in Elkins. He retired from C.A.M.C. Hospital during 2013. He was a born-again Christian in 1984 and served with Church of Gospel Ministry. He enjoyed traveling, was an excellent craftsman and woodworker, building furniture, yard ornaments and decks. He loved the company of his fur baby, companion, “Peanut”. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 5 PM to 7 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11 AM. The Rev. Terry Burgess will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV., where the WV Army Honor Guard, the H.W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647 Veterans of Foreign War and the Tucker Co. Veterans Assoc. will conduct full military honors.
