Charles E. Anderson 1931-2003 Obituary
Charles E. Anderson, 71, a resident of Route 1, Belington, died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Monday morning, April 21, 2003.
He was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Barbour County, a son of the late C.W. and Verdie (Dadisman) Anderson.
He was united in marriage in May 1953 to the former Dovie M. Everson.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and husband, Jerry Phillips, Belington, and Donna and husband, Nick Carpenter, Volga; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and wife, Debbie Anderson and Charles B. and wife, Judy Anderson, all of Belington; one adopted son, Bobby King, Belington; seven sisters, Louise Murphy, Geneva Anderson, Louetta Murphy, Katie Anderson, Linda Anderson, and Janice Murphy, all of Philippi, and Barbara Johnson of Belington; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Havard “Bud” and wife, Doris Anderson, Aurora, Ohio, and Dwight and wife, Juanita Anderson, Reedsville; nine grandchildren, Joey Carpenter, Roxanna Wilson, Chad Anderson, Brittanni Anderson, Josh Harris, Wesley Anderson, Drew Anderson, Kacy King and B.J. King; and one great-grandchild, Dillon Carpenter.
He and his wife, Dovie, were foster parents for 46 foster children. He was a former employee at the Scale Office of Elkins Limestone and retired from the Elkins Mountain School. He was a coach for 15 years of the Belington Little League. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and song leader.
Mr. Anderson’s request for cremation will be honored. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Thursday. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Steele officiating. At the request of the family, there will be no floral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerusalem Hillside Cemetery Fund, in care of Pat Campbell, Route 4, Box 174, Philippi, W.Va. 26416.
