Thurman Franklin Currence 1954-2021 Obituary
Thurman Franklin Currence, 67, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Monday, August 30, 2021, at Davis Medical Center.
Thurman was born Wednesday, July 2, 1954, in Elkins, a son of the late Clayton Currence and Sylvia Jean Pritt Currence. On September 26, 1979, he married the love of his life, the former Leta Sue Harton who survives at home.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Rebecca Kaposy Higgins and husband Matt, Gene Kaposy and wife Karen, Joni M. Kaposy, and Jason Kaposy and wife Carla, ten grandchildren, Vanessa Halle and husband Shane, Alicia Kaposy and fiance Denny, Ryan Miller, Danyelle Kaposy, Abby Kaposy and companion Josh Reckart, Kennedy Kaposy, Claire Kaposy, Briar Higgins, Christian Kaposy, Bailey Kaposy, six great-grandchildren, Ava Kaposy, Parker Halle, Alexis Halle, Kayden Ray, Gauge Wiseman, Camden Miller, sister, Patty J. Currence, nieces and nephews, Becky Jo Ferrell, Denny, April, Mitchell, Michael, great nieces and great nephews, Bobbie, Amanda, and Shena
Preceding him in death besides his parents were his maternal grandparents who raised him, Norm and Mary Pritt, one daughter, Toni Kaposy, one brother, Dennis Clayton Currence, two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Olivia.
Thurman graduated high school in Randolph County and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he attended college in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He had been employed as a welder for Shenango Steel. Thurman loved fishing, hunting, and his “babies”.
Thurman’s request for cremation was honored. A celebration of Thurman’s life will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 1PM to 5PM at the Stuarts Park pavilion.
Military honors will then by conducted by members of HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the WV Honor Guard.
