Charles Daniel Vest 1925-2021 Obituary
Charles Daniel Vest, 78, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday, July 16, 2021, at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV, after a short illness.
Charles was born Thursday, December 17, 1942, in Parsons, a son of the late George W. Vest and Vivian Nadine Garnes Vest. On May 11, 1964, in Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Linda Lou Hardy who survives. They had celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Charles’ memory are three children, Elizabeth Diane Carl of Gloucester, VA, James Alan Vest and Rebecca Dani Vest, both of Elkins, one brother, George David Vest and wife, Marcia, of Churchville, VA, two grandchildren, Johnathan Edward Carl and wife, Jessica, and Kari Amber Carl, two great grandchildren, Emmilen Elizabeth Huie, and Liam Christopher Devers, two nieces, Sandi Irene Bryant of Ashley, NC and Melanie Lee Mingee of Hampton, VA, and one uncle, Earl Robert Vest of Close Mountain.
Preceding Charles in death besides his parents was a niece, Kimberly Vest.
Charles was a graduate of Hampton High School in Hampton, VA. with the class of 1962. He had worked as an electrician for thirty years. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and genealogy research. He was past Grand Master of the IOOF of West Virginia and a member of Randolph IOOF #116, Delphia Rebekah Lodge #62, William Ewing Encantment #55, Tucker Canton #8 and Tygarts Pythian #76. At the time of his death, Charles had been a significant research contributor working with George Triplett on a book to be published at a later date titled, Our Proud Mountain Roots.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6pm until 8pm. At 7:30 pm, the Randolph IOOF Lodge #116 will conduct an honorary service. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11AM. Pastor David Collins will officiate, and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons. .
