Darius Franklin Leary 1935-2021 Obituary
Darius Franklin Leary, 86, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Elkins surrounded by his family.
Darius was born Monday, February 25, 1935, at Weaver, a son of the late George Leary and Melissa Crookshank Leary.
Left to cherish Darius’ memory is one son, Darius W. “Jake” Leary and wife, Nicole of Elkins, one daughter, Becky Vanscoy of Boone County, one sister, Eula Lone of Marietta, OH, five grandchildren, Jessica Ware and husband, Cregor, of Norton, James Vanscoy, Cody Lawrence and wife, Kendra, Josh Leary, and Jasmine Leary, all of Elkins, three great grandchildren, Incentricity Ware, Cole Lawrence, and Kiara Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jerry in death besides his parents were ten siblings, Denver, Charles, George Jr., Woodrow, Marie Goff, Mae Crites, Betty Vanpelt, Shirley Hupp, Pauline Leary, and Anna Lee Sturm.
Darius attended the schools of Randolph County. He enjoyed working in the woods. He had worked for Memorial General Hospital as a dishwasher, for Mon Power cutting rite of ways for power lines, and as a forktruck driver for Kingsford. He enjoyed fishing, camping, watching wrestling, and watching westerns.
Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, June 25, 2020, from 1pm until 2pm, the funeral hour. Rev. Roy Waybright will officiate, and interment will follow in Mouse Cemetery at Cravensdale.
