Lucretia Ellen “Tootie” Tucker (Coontz) 1928-2021 Obituary
Mrs. Lucretia Ellen Coontz“Tootie” Tucker, age 93 a resident of Belington, departed this life Thursday morning October 28, 2021 at the home of her granddaughter Melissa. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born August 26, 1928 at Belington, a daughter of the late Ray and Dove Gainer Coontz.
On September 1, 1948 she united in marriage to Alvin Thompson “Tom” Tucker, who preceded her in death on December 13, 2016.
Surviving are four sons; Albert Tucker and wife Phyllis of Philippi, Terry Tucker of Belington, Larry Tucker of Belington and Gregory Tucker and wife Tammy of Belington. Additional survivors include one sister; Mary Ramsey of Belington, five grandchildren; Brent Tucker and wife Lori, Brian Tucker, Melissa Tucker and husband James Mullan, Foster Tucker and wife Heather and Kyler Tucker and companion McKenzie Ambrose. Also surviving are six great grandchildren; Kody Tucker, Emily Ray, Olivia Tucker, Cora Bibey, Bella Bibey, Tori Tucker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tucker attended the schools of Barbour County, graduating from the Belington High School with the class of 1946.
She had attended the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, where she had been active with the Ladies Aid Group. “Tootie” as everyone called her, cared deeply about others especially her family and would do anything to help anyone. She had a great love for cooking, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 North Brandenburg Street in Belington on Monday November 1, 2021 from 6 PM to 9 PM and again on Tuesday November 2, 2021 from 8 am to 1pm the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lambert Chapel Cemetery near Belington.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Lambert Chapel Cemetery c/o Terry Tucker 9657 Barbour County Highway Belington, WV 26250. Due to Covid -19 restrictions face covering are required while paying your respects in the funeral home.
