Alda Rose Hammack (Poling) 1935-2021 Obituary
Mrs. Alda Rose Poling Hammack age 86 a resident of the Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington departed this life early Tuesday morning August 10, 2021 in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health. She was born May 8, 1935 at Montrose, WV. A daughter of the late Wyatt Franklin and Mallie Ada Poling.
She was twice married. First to Elwood E. Poling who preceded her in death on January 26, 1971, and second to Warren. N. Hammack who preceded her in death on July 7, 1995.
She is survived by four sons; Robert “Bob” Poling and wife Sheila of Belington, Vernon Poling and wife Nora of Belington, Keith Poling of Belington, and Joe Poling and wife Ellen of Stuart, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren; Amber Tuttle and husband Tom, Rachelle Westbrook and husband D.J, Lindsay Poling, Kaitlyn Poling, Mylee Poling, and Brian Poling and wife Ronda, Three great-grandchildren; Madison and Miles Westbrook and Luc Deziel.
Additional survivors include one sister Evelyn Davis of Baltimore, MD her “partner in crime” and former co-worker who she thought of as a daughter Donna Endler of Belington, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and former husbands she was preceded in death by three brothers; Robert P. Poling, Donald Poling, Richard “Dick” Poling, two sisters Lois Frederick and Velma Keenan, and one granddaughter Mindy Poling.
Alda attended the Schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Belington High School. She was employed by the Barbour County School System as a teachers aid from which she retired. She was a very active member of The Asbury United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a lifetime member of the Retired Teachers Association, and was a volunteer at the Heart and Hand Thrift Store. Alda had a deep love for children and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the staff at the Talbott Personal Care Home for the love and care they gave to Alda during her stay there.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street Belington, WV on Friday August 13, 2021 from 6-9 p.m. and again on Saturday August 14, 2021 from 8-11 a.m. the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Lee Williams officiating. Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington. Memorial contributions can be made to the Asbury United Methodist Women at 134 South Beverly Pike Belington, WV 26250. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Alda Rose Poling Hammack.
