Shirley Thompson 1939-2021 Obituary
Shirley Mae Miller Thompson, 82, a resident of Thomas, passed from this life Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas.
Shirley was born Sunday, May 7, 1939, in Tunnelton, a daughter of the late Vernon Curtis Miller and Clarice Helena Britton Miller. On June 7, 1956, in Red House, MD, she married the late Hobart Ray Thompson who preceded her in death on July 7, 1990.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are four children, Jimmy R. Thompson and wife, Bonnie, of Mt. Zion, Rebecka Ann Hinkle of Parsons, Linda S. Rhodes and husband, Joe, of Thomas, and a stepson, John Thompson and wife, Debbie, of Parsons, six grandchildren, Crystal Ann Hinkle, Sheena Hinkle Boyles, Ashley Thompson, Shawndra Shaylee Thompson, Cainon Thompson, and Jada Devone Owens, a sister, Betty Cooper and husband, Jim, of Terra Alta, a brother, Thomas Miller of Tunnelton.
Preceding Shirley in death besides her husband was two brothers, Charlie Miller and Joseph Miller.
Shirley attended Preston County Schools.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed, gardening, canning, sewing, baking, drawing, walking and her cats.
She enjoyed holidays and all that goes with them from decorating, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Shirley was a very loving and caring person who loved her family. She will be missed by all of them.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Monday from 6pm until 8pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 1pm. Rev. Sue Metzner will officiate, and interment will follow in Campground Cemetery near Howesville.
