Katherine E. Chenoweth 1925-2010 Obituary
Katherine E. Chenoweth, 84, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 1, 2010, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 15, 1925, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Harley Brewer and Lena Dove Lowther Evans.
On March 14, 1942, at Elkins, she was married to Loren Ray Chenoweth, who preceded her in death March 17, 1986.
She is survived by one son, Roland Lee Chenoweth and wife, Doris, of Elkins; three brothers, Robert Evans and wife, Joyce, and Hubert Evans, all of Elkins and Edgar Evans and wife, Mary Ann, of Roanoke, Virginia; two sisters, Mildred Doerr and Margaret Carr and husband, Granville, all of Elkins; five grandchildren, Timothy Chenoweth and
wife, Patricia, of Elkins, Rebecca Vance and husband, Sheldon, of Harman, Samuel Chenoweth and wife, Tracy, of Elkins, Mark Chenoweth and wife, Scarlett, of Hedgesville and Daniel Chenoweth and wife, Anna, of Elkins; and nine great-grandchildren, Laura, Melissa, Isaac, Ethan, Matthew and Benjamin Chenoweth, all of Elkins, Mason and Genevieve Chenoweth of Hedgesville and Austin Vance of Harman.
Also preceding her in death were one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Linda Jane Chenoweth; one brother, Ralph Evans and wife, Rissie; and four sisters, Verda Nestor and husband, Huett, Ruth Hitt and husband, Harry, Mabel Cook and husband, Joseph, and Virginia Hyre and husband, Willie.
Mrs. Chenoweth was an active member of Hart Chapel Church and had been a 4-H leader.
She was a member of Farm Women’s Club, Extension Homemakers Club in her later years and a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62 of Elkins where she was a Past Noble Grand of the lodge.
She was a self-employed furniture re-upholsterer for many years.
