Genivee Snyder Hughes, 80, a resident of Dryfork, passed away at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

She was born Aug. 6, 1929, at Dryfork, a daughter of the late Curtis Cooper and Freda Blewitt Snyder.

She was twice married, first to Emmett Conrad, who preceded her in death in October of 1982, and later to Robert Hughes, who preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by four sons, Steve Conrad, Philip and wife, Julie Conrad, all of Dryfork, Lawrence Conrad of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Sammy Hughes of Morgantown.

Also surviving are three daughters, Anna King of Rocky Mountain, North Carolina, Edie Moon and husband, Bill, of Martinsburg and Mary Ann Tennant and husband, Butch, of Morgantown; and two sisters, Shirley Eye of Red Creek and Mary Elza of Whitmer.

Thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding her in death was one son-in-law, John King; and one infant brother, Paul Curtis Snyder.

Mrs. Hughes had worked at Blackwater Falls State Park for 23 years prior to her career as a Special Education Teacher with the Randolph County Schools.

She was a member of the Dryfork Assembly of God Church in which she served as secretary/treasurer for many years.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, June 28, at the Dryfork Assembly of God Church.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Rick Lewellen and Pastor Alice Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery near Harman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dryfork Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 451, Dryfork, West Virginia 26263 in memory of Mrs. Hughes.
