William Henry “Bill” Currence, age 73, of Durbin, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his home in Durbin.

Born October 23, 1933, at Beckys Creek, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Ethel Taylor Currence.

He was a laborer for the Town of Durbin and a logger for Bennett Logging.

Well known as a musician, he played in several bands that led him to play at the State Fair of West Virginia and also with Woody Simmons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Currence, January 20, 2007; two sons, Dickie Currence and Donald Currence; a granddaughter, Rebecca Beth Wimer; sisters, Uneda Swecker, Virginia Howard, May Ann Langdon; brothers, Charles, Arlie, Mac, Howard, Baty Ray, Woody, and Marlie.

Mr. Currence is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Lantz, of Caldwell, and Debbie Colaw, of Durbin; five sons, Michael Cromer, of Green Bank, William Currence, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Jonathan Currence, of Fredricksburg, Maryland, Jerry Currence, of Mayesville, and Douglas Currence, of Durbin; two sisters, Lena Mae Seabolt, of Durbin, and Edna Martin, of Augusta; one brother, David Currence, of Mill Creek; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Saturday, August 4. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale by the Rev. Donnie Curry, with burial in the Gum Cemetery, Durbin.
