Donald “Don” Keith Wamsley 1934-2020 Obituary
Donald “Don” Keith Wamsley, 86, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at home with family by his side and under the care of West Virginia Hospice.
Don was born Wednesday, February 28, 1934, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Clarence Wade Wamsley and Ella Genevieve Currence Wamsley.
On June 6, 1954, in Huttonsville, he married the former, Susan “Faye” Shiflett, who survives.
They had celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Don’s memory are two daughters, Donna R. Morgan and husband, Vernon of Helvetia, and Denise L. Daniels and husband, Richard, of Blue Rock, three grandchildren, Shannon Toth and husband, Jason, of Wisconsin, Shauna Grantham and husband John, of the Netherlands, and Leeann M. White of Ohio, four great grandchildren, Scott Toth, Brett Toth, Reed Grantham, and Bryn Grantham, four sisters-in-law, Karen Shiflett, Maxine Pingley and husband, Charlie, Sharon Shiflett, and Patti Shiflett, and nieces and nephews, Rebecca Kirkpatrick, Deborah Wamsley, Dennis Wamsley and wife, Andrea, Edward Wamsley and wife, Anita, Michael Wamsley and wife, Pam, Ginger Boyd and husband, Richard, Estelita Gillard, Herman Armstrong and wife, Vickie, Victor Armstrong and wife, Roberta, David Tackett and wife, Robin, Penny Brown and husband, Terry, Wanda White and husband, Rick, Curtis Williams and wife, Marlene, Kevin Williams and wife, Jackie, Missy Dillon and husband, Nick, Leslie Shiflett and wife, Susie, Eric Shiflett, Tracey Shiflett, Chris Shiflett and wife Denisa, Marc Shiflett and wife, Christa and Adam Shiflett and wife Amanda.
Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Merrit Wamsley and Jackson “Jack” Wamsley, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eunice Wamsley, Susan Wamsley, Juanita Armstrong and husband, Alfred, William “Billy” Armstrong and wife, Eloise, Carol Williams, Deloris Williams, James “Jimmy” Shiflett, Chris Shiflett, and Ricki Shiflett, and one niece, Jennifer Currence.
Don attended the schools of Randolph County, and he had worked as a custodian at Homestead School.
He enjoyed talking on his CB radio to friends he had all over the world.
He had an appreciation for antique cars.
A graveside service will be held at Brick Church Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow.
