Robert Bourgeois Sr. 1929-2003 Obituary
Lt. Commander Robert Augustin Bourgeois Sr., USN retired, 74, died Monday, March 3, 2003.
He was born Feb. 7, 1929, in Baton Rouge, La., and a resident of French Creek, since 1976.
He was a 30 year naval officer and a veteran of World War II. He served three tours of duty in Korea, three tours of duty in Vietnam and numerous other campaigns.
He was a navigator and tactical coordinator flying in the Navy P-3. He was both a mechanical and electrical engineer.
He was preceded in death in 1977, by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Diane Fleming Bourgeois, and his parents, Eugene Bourgeois and Una Claire Chauvin Bourgeois, of New Orleans, La.
Surviving are his five sons, Robert Jr., Mark, twins, Kenneth and Kevin, and his youngest son, Alex; grandchildren are Christie Lynn, Mark Jr., Ian, Tess, Hunter, Rosalynn, Christin and Corrine Mr. Bourgeois’ surviving siblings are Alvin, Pat, Paul, David, Denise, Sylvia and Virginia as well as his life-long childhood friend, Lynn Roberts of Baton Rouge.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vincent Funeral Home in French Creek.
Graveside rites and burial will be at the family cemetery in French Creek at noon Friday with Father James McCafferty officiating.
Full military graveside rites will be offered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 and American Legion Post 7 of Buckhannon.
