Oswald Maynard Werner 1920-2003 Obituary
Oswald Maynard Werner, 82, of the Audra Road in Belington, departed this life at 6:20 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Werner had been in declining health, however death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Oct. 1, 1920, on the Audra Road, near Belington, a son of the late Merl and Grace Wagoner Werner.
On May 15, 1942, he was married to the former Anna Canfield, who preceded him in death on June 3, 1976.
On March 25, 1977, he was married to the former Genevieve Thomas, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Eva Mae Everson and husband, Howard, and Rosa Lee Plum and husband, Lawrence, all of Belington.
He is also survived by one sister, Mildred Werner of Belington; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Yvonne Werner. Mr. Werner attended the schools of Barbour County.
In his earlier years he was employed, along with his father, in the logging and sawmill business.
Later on, he was employed by Raymond Wilmoth, and then became employed by the Copper Tie Co. in Belington.
Lastly, he was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways, from which he retired.
Mr. Werner was known for his love of hunting and fishing. He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with Pastor Ronny Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Belington.
