Lorine Katie White 1917-2003 Obituary
Lorine “Katie” White, 85, a former resident of the Crystal Springs Community, Elkins, and for the past six and one-half years, a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life early Thursday morning, Jan. 2, 2003, at the center. She had been in declining health for the past seven years.
She was born Saturday, June 9, 1917, at Davis, a daughter of the late John White and Agnes Jordan White.
On Dec. 10, 1932, at Harman, she was married to Orval D. White, who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1979.
Surviving are four sons, Richard L. White, Wymer, Floyd Leonard White, Beverly, O. Keith White, Elkins, and Arthur W. White, Inwood; four daughters, Edith Ray, Crystal Springs Community, Mary A. Evans, Chenoweth Creek Road Community, Ruby Phillips, Bowden, and Sarah A. Woods, Winchester, Va.; two brothers, William “Bill” White, Parsons, and Harry White, Elkins; four sisters, Lucille Armstead, Blacksburg, Va., Vallie Davis, Elkins, Elsie Massey, Trenton, N.J., and Mona Carr, Hendricks; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie White; one half brother, Gordon Lambert; three sisters, her twin Lora White, Ruby Roberts and Geneva Abbott; one half sister, Marie Lambert; and one great-grandchild.
She attended the schools of Randolph County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God at Alpena and was formerly active in the Crystal Springs Community and the Randolph County Senior Center.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Larry Poling will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
