Virginia Dale Wimer 1924-2003 Obituary
Virginia Dale Wimer, 78, of Walkersville, passed away Monday, March 24, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Hartzell, Mo., the daughter of the late Daniel and Virginia Bell McKisic Wilfong.
On March 29, 1947, she was married to Elmer T. Wimer, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Katheryn “Katie” Robinson and husband, Roscoe, of Walkersville, and Virginia “Fern” Watson of Ireland; one grandson, Daniel A. Queen and family of Ireland; and one granddaughter, Sherry Simons, and great-grandson Dakota Thorn Simon, both of Atlantic, Iowa.
In addition, she is survived by a special niece and nephew, Catherine Kennedy of Elkview and John Peter Solamon of Tavores, Fla.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The Wimers owned and operated Wimer’s Feed Store in Walkersville and were the proud owners of the beautiful Belted Buelingo cattle, being the first in the state of West Virginia.
Mrs. Wimer was a 37-year faithful member of the Straight Fork Community Educational Outreach Service and a graduate of Walkersville High School.
Mrs. Wimer operated Wimer’s Greenhouse at the farm on McCord Run.
She was one of the founding organizers of the Mission Independent Church at Walkersville, she loved gospel music and Christian fellowship, and attended Straight Fork United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home at French Creek today from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Bender officiating. Burial will follow in the Heaston Ridge Cemetery. Robert M. Vincent Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
