Geneva Zirkle 1913-2003 Obituary
Geneva Zirkle, 89, a former resident of Elkins and a resident of Rocky Point, N.C., passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the home of her niece, Sherry Rosario, with whom she made her home since 1995.
She was born Dec. 16, 1913, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Cyrus and Ada Belle Chenoweth McQuain.
On Nov. 8, 1975, she was married to Sylvester Zirkle, who preceded her in death on July 14, 1988.
Surviving is a brother, Okey McQuain of Elkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive including her great-nephew and primary caregiver, Stephen Kerr.
Also preceding her in death were six brothers, Si, Jay, Dellas, Albert, Ellis and an infant brother; and three sisters, Icie, Maggie and her twin, Genevieve.
Mrs. Zirkle was a homemaker and a caregiver for members of the McQuain family for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elkins for more than 60 years and an active member of the Jenny L. Dailey Sunday school class, as well as many other aspects of the church.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be under the direction of the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins for Geneva Zirkle.
