Archie K. Wood 1908-2003 Obituary
Archie K. Wood, 95, of Mingo, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood.
He was born Jan. 1, 1908, at Mingo, the son of the late John Moore and Stella Mace Wood.
He graduated from Tygarts Valley High School, retired from the Department of Highways and was most recently active as a farmer.
Mr. Wood was a lifelong member of the Mingo Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and trustee. He was also a trustee of the Mingo Cemetery. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Wood is survived by one sister-in-law, Doris Wood of Mingo; five nephews, John Copeman II of Boiling Springs Lake, N.C., Donald Wood Jr. of Mill Creek, Ronald Wood of Charlotte, N.C., John Taylor of Mingo and John Copeman III of Wilmington, N.C.; and seven nieces, Vicky Graham, Joyce Taylor, Lindsey Graham and Whitney Graham, all of Kingwood, Rebecca Sperandio of Core, Sandra Crites of Mansfield, Ohio, and Stephanie Gilbert of Winnabow, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Gwendolyn Ward Wood; three brothers, Andrew Wood, Ellis Wood and Donald Wood; and one sister, Winifred Andrews
Friends may call at the Mingo Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Mingo Cemetery.
