Anna L. Balli 1906-2003 Obituary
Anna Lydia Balli, 96, formerly of Pickens who made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Louie Jones of Volga, died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 18, 1906, at Pickens, the daughter of the late John and Hulda Heller Balli.
Surviving are one sister, Martha Jones and husband, Louie, of Volga; two nieces, Rose Ann Cowgar of Hacker Valley and Hilda Burroughs of Waverly; one nephew, James T. Fortune, Alexander, Va.; three great-nieces, Cindy Miller of Hacker Valley, Janet Fliegel of Maineville, Ohio, and Carol Shaub of Washington, D.C.; three great-great-nieces, Alexandria Fliegel of Maineville, Ohio, and Andi Miller and Chloe Miller, both of Hacker Valley; and two great-great-nephews, Jack Fliegel of Maineville, Ohio, and Elias Garden of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Balli and an infant brother; six sisters, Helena Balli, Alma Fortune, Olga Harris, Rosa Marts, Gertrude Balli and Freda Balli; and one great-niece, Brenda Garden.
She was a retired farmer and had made Swiss cheese and butter from their farm in Webster County. She was a retired teacher and taught 36 years in Webster County.
She was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Lejune Lewis and the Rev. Jim Steel will officiate and interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Pickens. The Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel of Buckhannon is in charge of the arrangements for Anna Balli.
