Cressie Morlene White Bohon, 94, a resident of the Seneca Road, Elkins, departed this life late Saturday evening, March 8, 2003, at her home. She had been in declining health.

She was born Monday, June 1, 1908, at Job, the daughter of the late Lonzo W. White and Martha Alice White.

On April 26, 1929, at Parsons, she was married to Lyda Offutt Bohon, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1991.

Cressie raised three girls, Mrs. Max (Martha Dean) Arbogast, now deceased, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Coberly, Seneca Road, and Mrs. A. Wayne (Regina “Jeannie”) Mouse, Beverly; two sisters, Beatrice Barrickman, Dailey, and Pearl Lipscomb, Belington; several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Fansler and Madeline Fluharty; and three brothers, Bruce, Woodrow and Foster White.

Cressie attended the schools of Whitmer, was a homemaker and was known for her baking, especially her famous molasses cookies that she baked in the shape of gingerbread men, decorated and gave to family and neighbors.

She enjoyed raising plants and flowers and was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, where she had formerly served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher.

Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Pastor Bryan M. Headley will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens, formerly the IOOF Cemetery, at Elkins. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, 1410 Crim Ave., Belington, W.Va., 26250.
