Stella G. Bomia 1926-2003 Obituary
Stella G. Bomia, 76, of Monroe, Mich., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at 5:05 a.m. at her residence. She had been in poor health since October 2002.
She was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Cecil and Odest Wamsley Moore.
She was married to Norman J. Bomia.
Surviving are three sons, Ferl D. Bomia and wife, Denice, LaSalle, Mich., Duane N. Bomia, Monroe, Mich., and Christopher M. Bomia and wife, Jeri, Monroe, Mich.; two daughters, Yvonne G. Moore, Romulus, Mich., and Donna M. Bomia, Monroe, Mich.; one brother, John Moore and wife, Thelma, Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Nancy Pete, Luna Pier, Mich., and Joan Hannibal, Hualapi, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Grace T. Bomia; and one brother, Charles.
She was a homemaker. She worked as a union steward at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., from 1972 and retired in 1976. During World War II, she worked as a riveter manufacturing military airplanes. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, where she volunteered as a lunch mother when her children were in school. She was very active at the church and school. She was active in fund raising for the Archdiocese of Detroit. She was a founder, coordinator and a volunteer for the LaSalle Volunteer Fire Departments. She enjoyed computers, working with 4-H, sewing, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She moved to Monroe, Mich. in 1947.
Friends may call today from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Earle Little Funeral Home, Barcarella Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 4 p.m. She will lie in state Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father Terrence Kerner, pastor of St. John’s will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Osseo, Hillsdale County, Mich.
