Richard D. Bosworth 1922-2003 Obituary
Richard Dale Bosworth, age 81, a resident of the 55 Duncan Lane, Springfield, Pa., departed this life Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 2003, at his residence. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Tuesday, May 9, 1922, at Elkins, the son of the late Carol Bosworth and Mary Marks Bosworth.
On Sept. 5, 1942, he was married to the former Lora Leonard, who survives.
Also surviving are one brother, Charles Ebb Bosworth, Baltimore, Md.; and two sisters, Dot Sloan, Crystal Springs, and Nina Thompson, Panama City, Fla.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Newt, Bud, Owen and Brownie Bosworth; and one sister, Pauline Pritt.
He attended the schools of Randolph County, graduated from the Detroit Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, and served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He worked for the Sun Oil Company in Baltimore, Md., as a mechanical engineer.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, AF&AM of Baltimore, Md., the Edgemont Golf Club, where he was an avid golfer, the Kirkwood Health Spa, and was an active member of the Springfield Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Sunday from noon to 1 p.m., at which time Mr. Bosworth will be moved to the Beverly Cemetery for graveside services.
The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate. Members of the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion will conduct a presentation of the American flag, and interment will follow.
The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Richard Dale Bosworth.
