Janet M. Burkey 1943-2003 Obituary
Janet Marie Cole Burkey, 59, a resident of Route 2, Elkins, departed this life early Saturday morning, March 8, 2003, at the Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Tuesday, April 27, 1943, at Charleston, the daughter of the late David Albert Cole and Gladys Belcher Cole.
She was twice married, first to Chester J. Callahan, who preceded her in death. Second, on March 23, 1982, she was married to Leon Paul Burkey, who preceded hear in death on Dec. 13, 1990.
Surviving are one son, Mark A. Burkey and wife, Cindy, Elkins; two daughters, Patricia G. Crabb and husband, Arlen, Aberdeen, Md., and Lisa D. McCauley and husband, Randy, Cravensdale; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her twin brother, James Cole; and one sister, Mildred Pratey.
She attended the schools of Lincoln County, was a homemaker, enjoyed camping and was an avid CB enthusiast with the handle, “Lady J.”
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Pastor Ralph Andrus will officiate and interment will follow at the Crosten Family Cemetery at Clover Run.
