Mayberry Calhoun 1911-2003 Obituary
Mayberry Calhoun, 92, a resident of Hodgesville community, Buckhannon, departed this life at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born June 6, 1911, in Pocahontas County, a son of the late Adam and Viola (Lambert) Calhoun.
He was twice married, first to the former Florence Overfield and second to the former Rita Strader, both of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are five sons and daughters-in-law, Simpson and wife, Norma, Leavittsburg, Ohio, Scott and wife, Betty, Cortland, Ohio, Ralph and wife, Barbara, Hodgesville, Delane and wife, Susie, Lordstown, Ohio, and Carl and wife, Sandra, Leavittsburg, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Viola and husband, Dennis Marlowe, Warren, Ohio; one sister, Flodia Calhoun Auvil, Quiet Dell; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Calhoun; seven brothers and four sisters.
He retired from Peerless Electric in Warren, Ohio. He enjoyed traveling and many hobbies. He was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 4 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
