Delbert “Buck” Carder Sr., 73, of Valley Bend, passed away at 3:21 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

Born June 6, 1930, in Lost Creek, he was the son of the late Andrew Carder and Oma Harrison Carder.

On April 1, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Leta Mae Swecker, who survives in Valley Bend.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dotty Arbogast and husband, Danny, of El Paso, Texas, and Debbie Brown and husband, Jerald, of Valley Head; one son, Bucky Carder and wife, Mary, of Victoria, Texas; one sister, Jane Brown of Elkins; and one brother, Jimmy Carder of Middlefield, Ohio.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Leigh Ann Watson of Elkins, Kayleen Carder of Elkins, Brittney Arbogast and Ryan Arbogast, both of El Paso, Texas, and Jerald “J.D.” Brown II of Valley Head; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce Watson and Jeremiah Watson, both of Elkins.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were three sisters, Dorothy Bennett, Mildred Tacy and Maxine Crawford; and one brother, Gilbert Carder.

Buck was formerly employed by Snowshoe as a security guard. Buck retired from Phoenix Resources, and was an attendant at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home until becoming ill.

Mr. Carder attended the Mingo Presbyterian Church. He was a Christian by faith.

Buck will be deeply missed by all those who knew him and will never be forgotten.

Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Runner Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. David Rice, pastor of the Mingo Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.

The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Delbert “Buck” Carder Sr.
