Roxie E. Carson 1914-2003 Obituary
Roxie Ellen Carson, 88, of Elkins, formerly of Reedy, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Nella’s Inc. in Elkins after an extended illness.
She also lived in Buckhannon for 10 years before moving to Elkins.
She was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Roane County, a daughter of the late James Monroe and Geneva Coen Cottrell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Reedy United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for awhile.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kitty Carson of Buckhannon; one grandson and his wife, Todd and Beth Carson, also of Buckhannon; one sister, Delphia Westfall of Wellsburg; and two great-grandsons, James Brian and Matthew Ward Carson, also of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ward Carson in July 1999; two sisters, Opal Paugh and Mattie Fouty; and four brothers, Luard, Ed, Charlie and Foster Cottrell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer with Pastor John Ellison officiating.
Burial will be in the Board Cemetery, Reedy. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
