Jerald Long 1918-2001 Obituary
Jerald Long, 82, formally of Dry Fork and Belington since 1984, died Feb. 1., in Broaddus Hospital emergency room, Philippi.
He had been in his usual health.
Mr. Long was born March 25, 1918, in Dry Fork, a son of the late Strite and Julie Hedrick Long.
In 1954, he married the former Genevieve Ruby Taylor, who preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1983.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Freddie (Rebecca Lynn) Hedrick, Elkins, and Mrs. Roger (Elizabeth Beth) Snyder, address, unknown; six sons, Jerald (and Linda) Long, David (and Carmen) Long, and James Randall Long, all of Belington, Daniel Bruce (and Karen) Long, Parsons, Arie (and Jan) Long, Davis, and Gordon Long, Petersburg; three sisters Nan Harper, address unknown, Lettie Helmick, Youngstown, OH, and Rosie Jones, Wheeling; a brother, Russell “Bud” Long, Parsons; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nora Long and two brothers, Kelly and Lenza Long.
Mr. Long was a dryer operator at the Kingsford Products Company, Parsons, and retired in the late 70’s.
He was a Mennonite by faith.
Friends were received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home, Elkins.
On Feb. 6, Mr. Long was moved to Riverside Mennonite Church for the funeral with the Rev. Robert Wenger, Pastor of the church and Pastor Fred Miller, of North Fork Mennonite Church officiating.
Interment followed in Pennington Cemetery, Dry Fork.
