Margaret Carroll Arnold 1928-2001 Obituary
Margaret Catherine Carroll Arnold, 72, of Mountain Lake Park, MD, died Aug. 14 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 7, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Arnold was a daughter of the Francis “Frank” and Roseanna Ellsworth Carroll. On Sept. 25, 1949, she married Roy C. Arnold of Thomas who now resides at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Martinsburg.
Also surviving are five children, Mary A. “Bonnie” Mullenax of Thomas, Roy J. Arnold of Oakland, MD, Peggy Jean Arnold of Mt. Lake Park, MD, Cherrie Lee Putlovis and John Glenn Arnold of Coketon; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Carroll and twin granddaughters, Stephanie A. and Tiffany C. Arnold; a half-brother, Bryan Carroll, whereabouts unknown. Her eldest grandson, Christopher J. Arnold, died Aug. 18 of injuries sustained in a car accident enroute to his grandmother’s memorial service.
Mrs. Arnold was educated in the Catholic schools of Brooklyn and public schools of Queens, NY. She attended W.C. Bryan High School in Long Island City, NY and completed commercial studies inNew York City. She was employed as a hand stone setter at a jewelry manufacturer in New York City, assembly line worker of Detroit’s General Motors’ plant and also at L.L. Hudson’s Department store in Detroit.
She was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Parish of Elkins.
At Mrs. Arnold’s request, her body was cremated. A memorial service was held Aug. 18 at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, with the Rev. Neil Parsons officiating.
