William Junior Taylor, 69, of Route 1, Volga, died Friday evening, Aug. 1, 2003, at the home of a daughter, near Philippi, following an extended illness.

He was born May 20, 1934, at Belington, a son of the late William Monroe and Jessie Mae (Emerson) Taylor.

Surviving are three sons, Jesse Jr. Taylor and fiancee, Dawn Cooper, Rixeyville, Va., Robert Taylor and wife, Debbie, and Charles Taylor and wife, Felicia, all in Virginia; seven daughters, Mary Taylor, Barbara Blake and husband, Charley, all of Elkins, Rachel Croston and husband, Earl, Flemington, Rebecca Evix and husband, Jeff, Volga, Mary Summerfield and husband, Dave, Julie Haller and husband, Roger, all of Philippi, and Jeanne Bailey and husband, Michael, Bridgeport; four stepchildren, Bridgetta McVicker, South Carolina, Carmella Miley, Clarksburg, Crystal Marsh, North Carolina, and Wahylon Cleavenger, Georgia; two brothers, Richard Hall, Titusville, Fla., and Billy Robinson, Moatsville; three sisters, Lilly George, Morgantown, Mary Mae and Della Ann Wheeler, both of Kingwood; 16 grandchildren and nine stepgrandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Victor Waugaman.

Mr. Taylor was a retired coal truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed collecting salvage.

Friends were received at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi Sunday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., today from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. From 4 Aug 2003.
