Madeline Tenney 1914-2003 Obituary
Madeline “Wete” Tenney, 88, of Route 2, Box 213, Buckhannon, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at her decendents’ residence in Buckhannon.
She was born Oct. 19, 1914, at Sand Run, a daughter of the late James Anthony and Nola Gooden Hornbeck.
On Oct. 26, 1935, she married William R. Tenney, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1979.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Tenney and wife, Lynn, Gallipolis, Ohio, Don Tenney and wife, Charlene and Basil Tenney and wife, Robin, all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Grace Hosaflook and husband, Bob, French Creek; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Tenney Breland, Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Agnes Trussler, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Panzie Goodwin, Jacksonville, Fla., and Margery Tenney, Tallmansville; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Tenney; six brothers, Denvil Hornbeck, Ronford Hornbeck, Richard Hornbeck, Carl Hornbeck, Doyle Hornbeck and Lindberg Hornbeck; one sister, Stacie Davis; one granddaughter, Connie Hosaflook; and one great-grandson, Nathan Griffith.
She was a homemaker. She attended Mt. Union United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sunshine Group of Sand Run.
Friends will be received Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. On Friday, she will be moved to Mt. Union United Methodist Church, where she will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. From 22 Jan 2003.
