Preston Tenney Sr. 1939-2003 Obituary
Preston “Don” Tenney Sr., 63, of 19 Norvell Drive, Buckhannon, died Friday, Feb. 221, 2003, at 5:13 a.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Hemlock, a son of the late Conard “Koonie” and Florence Scott Tenney.
On Dec. 27, 1958, he married Carolyne Gooden Tenney, who survives in Buckhannon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Tenney and wife, REgina, and Preston Don Tenney II, all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Melinda Bennett and husband, Timothy, Buckhannon; three brothers, Willis Tenney and wife, Josie, Lorentz, Dayton Tenney and wife Barb, Buckhannon, and Basil “Chick” Tenney, Hemlock; two sisters, Kathleene Tenney, Hemlock, and Zelma “Sissy” and husband, Carol Currence, Blue Rock; one grandson, Joshua Tenney, Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Stacey Tenney and Tabitha Bennett, both of Buckhannon; one stepgranddaughter, Stephanie Gilmore, Elkins; and mother-in-law, Pauline Gooden, Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Denely and Charm Tenney; four sisters, Willa and Fred leigh, Mazie and Elza Currence, Irene and Steve Olenick and Creta Fern Tenney; one brother-in-law, Pat Tenney; and one sister-in-law, Opal Tenney.
He was a coalminer for Rauer Coal Co. and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Friends were received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday. Funeral services were held in the funeral Home chapel today at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating. Interment followed in Lanham Cemetery in Queens. From 24 Feb 2003.
