Delia V. Thorne 1915-2003 Obituary
Mrs. Delia Virginia Thorne, 88, of Petersburg, died Feb. 10, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Emma Jo Bartley, Petersburg.
Born Feb. 2, 1915, in Dorcas she was the daughter of the late John N. and Mary Belle Ours. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Elton Helmick.
Besides her one daughter, she is survived by her husband, Rennie W. Thorne of Petersburg; two sons, Ray E Helmick of St. Augustine, Fla., and Vernon D Helmick of Petersburg; a second daughter, Virginia L. Alt of Petersburg; one brother, John N. Ours Jr. of Petersburg; 12 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Feb. 13, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Rev. Gary Phillips officiating.
Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
