Don Glendon Tracy 1933-2003 Obituary
Don Glendon Tracy, 69, a resident of 1414 Lavalette Ave. in Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in failing health; however, his death was unexpected.
Born Nov. 15, 1933, at Webster Springs, he was the son of the late Adam Victor and Agatha L. Tucker Tracy.
Don is survived by his only son, Donald G. Tracy, and companion, Penny Smith, of Harman; two sisters, Freda Loane of Elkins and Thelma Page of Hope Mills, N.C.; and one brother, Delmont Tracy of Elkins.
Also surviving are a special granddaughter, Bailey Tracy, and one grandson, Adam Tracy, whom were his pride and joy. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Delmas “Deb” Tracy and Eugene D. Tracy, who passed away Sept. 2, 2003; and four sisters, Ruth Cutright, Wilma Bates, Brenda Tracy and an infant sister.
Don was a painter, having been employed for Talbott Paint and Glass Co. for several years. He was well-known for being one of the first painters to paint the sunshine on the side of the glass company. He also helped repaint it several times.
Don was a veteran, having been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving during the Korean Conflict.
As a young boy, Don was an avid fisherman. In his later years, he enjoyed reading books, especially Westerns. He was a Protestant by faith.
Don will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will remain in their hearts forever.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. today. Funeral Services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. A.H. Belt, pastor of the Gospel Light Tabernacle, will officiate. Interment will follow in the American Legion Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale. The Tygart Valley Post 3647 VFW and the H.W. Daniels Post 29 of the American Legion will conduct full military rites at the grave site.
