John P. Turek 1917-2003 Obituary
JOHN PETE TUREK, 86, of Fairmont, died April 30, at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home.
He was born January 29, 1917 in Henry, a son of the Pete and Nellie Yuick Turek.
He is survived by his wife, Lina Beck Turek of Fairmont; a son, John Patrick (and Luellen) Turek of Council Bluff, IA; a step-daughter, Margaret (and Jerry) Moore of Mannington; three brothers, Fred Turek, MI, Joe Turek, Davis and Carl Turek, Wheeling; a sister, Dorothy Breath, Thomas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Turek was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Mr. Turek retired from Four States Consol where he worked as a coal miner.
He was a WW II veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Turek worked with the 1936 CCC Camps and he was a member of UMWA District 31.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, where funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Winter officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
