Lonnie Ware 1924-2003 Obituary
Lonnie Ware, 79, a life long resident of Belington and more recently a resident of the Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington for the past year and a half, departed this life at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for quite some time.
He was born June 25, 1924, in Norton, a son of the late Cecil and Blanche Pharis Ware.
His wife of 50 years, Loverine Virginia England Ware, whom he married on Sept. 27, 1952, survives at their home in Belington.
Also surviving are his children, Stanley E. Ware and wife, Patti, of Alliance, Ohio, Paula S. Morgan and husband, Brad, of Elkins, and Donald H. Ware and wife, Ruby, of Belington; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, five brothers, Fletis Ware, Max Ware, Bernie Ware and Cecil Ware Jr., all of Ohio, and Thomas Ware of Belington; and one sister, Jeraldine Potts of Ohio.
Mr. Ware attended the schools of Barbour County and was a retired coal miner. He was a disabled American Veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, Battery C 125th AA Gun Battalion. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 410 in Belington, and was a member of the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, where he served as Deacon and was instrumental in the building of the church in its present location.
Friends were received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. and today until noon, at which time he will be moved to the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, where friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral home, when services will be conducted from the church sanctuary with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Cemetery near Belington, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Light of Christ Chapel Building Fund, PO Box 603, Belington, W.Va. 26250. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Lonnie Ware.
