Ruth A. Champ 1940-2003 Obituary
Ruth Ann Champ, 63, a former resident of Bowden and for the past 13 years a resident of 145B Colonial Drive, Harrisonburg, Va., departed this life Friday afternoon, June 20, 2003, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.
She had been in declining health for the past four years and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born Saturday, March 23, 1940, at Bowden, a daughter of the late William Haymond Champ and Pearlie Coberly Champ.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy S. Champ, Mt. Solon, Va., and Terry L. Ketterman, Harrisonburg, Va.; one sister, St. Loria Mallow, Huttonsville; three grandchildren, Buffie Matters, Travis and Ethan Sheets; and one great-grandson, Colby Matters. She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha G. Champ.
She graduated from Elkins High School and worked for Wampler Foods until becoming disabled in 2000.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Barbara Lagerveld will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
