Lanze P. Charles 1930-2003 Obituary
Lanze Paul Charles, 72, of Route 1, Belington, died Monday morning, Sept. 8, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital following an unexpected illness.
He was born Sept. 9, 1930, at Pikeville, Ky., the son of the late Glover and Alpha Pinson Charles.
On March 6, 1957, he was married to the former Catherine J. Delauder, who survives at Route 1, Belington. Also surviving are four daughters, Cathy Hardman and husband, Tom, of Raleigh, N.C., Leorra “Gail” Jones and husband, David, of Canton, Ohio, Crystal L. Elmore and husband, Curtis R., of Coalton, and Donna M. Jones and husband, Kevin, of Belington; two sons, Paul Charles and wife, Debbie A., of Belington, and Russell Charles and wife, Gina, of Canton, Ohio; one brother, Russell Charles, and one sister, Sylvia Gay Helton, both of Silver Lake, Ind.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Charles retired from the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources as a park attendant at Audra State Park.
Although he did not attend a particular church, he followed the tenets of the Church of Christ.
Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel.
Michael Phillips, minister of the Belington Church of Christ, will officiate and interment will follow in the Trinity Cemetery.
