Mary Newlon Moomau Clark 1916-2003 Obituary
Mary Newlon Moomau Clark, 86, Petersburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Clark was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Petersburg, W.Va., and was a daughter of Sara and William C. Moomau.
She graduated from Davis and Elkins College and taught school in West Virginia, Oklahoma and Texas. She taught Sunday school and worked with the Girl Scouts. She was a member of the DAR, an elder at Petersburg Presbyterian Church and played in the handbell choir. She lived in Oklahoma and Texas until retiring to Petersburg and Canaan in 1993.
Her husband, Lloyd D. “Bill” Clark, preceded her in death March 21, 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Harman of Woodstock; a sister, Sally M. King of Warsaw; two brothers, George Baker Moomau of Petersburg, W.Va., and Henry Moomau of Oakland, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Rev. William Cox will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Friday at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
There will be a reception in the Petersburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall following the burial.
