Lelah Elizabeth Weese 1912-2003 Obituary
Lelah Elizabeth Weese, 90, of Mt. Liberty community, Route 4, Philippi, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Belington where she had been a patient since July 1991.
She was born Sept. 6, 1912, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Ervin and Lourie J. Holbert Chenoweth.
On Aug. 17, 1935, she was married to Norman “Bus” Weese, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Eddie (Jane Ann Evans) Weese, Route 4, Philippi; three grandchildren, Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Bauer, Norman Kent Weese and Mrs. Steven (Karla) Hively, all of Philippi; five great-grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Bauer, Brook and Brodi Hively, all of Philippi, and Joshua Weese, Fairmont; one great-great-grandchild, Dalton Shiflett, Philippi.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Norman Edsel “Eddie” Weese; one sister, Pauline Coontz; and an infant brother.
Mrs. Weese was a former public school teacher and former cook in Mt. Liberty School. She retired as a salesperson from the G.C. Murphy Co. store in Philippi. She was a member of the Corley United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher, youth director, choir member and a member of the Ladies Aid.
Friends may call at Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until noon Friday when Mrs. Weese will be moved to the Corley United Methodist Church, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour.
The Rev. Dale Waters, the Rev. Don Fitzwater and the Rev. Arden Beck will officiate and interment will follow in Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be in the form of contributions to the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center, Belington, W.Va. 26250.
