Harry E. Craig 1934-2003 Obituary
Harry E. “Skip” Craig of Sommerville, S.C., died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003.
He was born July 9, 1934, in McMechen, the son of the late Harry Layman Craig and Meta Harne Craig, who survives.
He is also survived by the following children: Harry L. “Butch” Craig and wife, Jan, of Buckhannon, Jeffrey T. Craig of Petersburg, Dennis E. Craig and wife, Jolene, of New Brighton, Pa., Rebecca Jarrell and husband, Rex, of Houston, Texas, Debra J. Wallace and husband, Chris, of Medfield, Mass., and Melinda L. Craig of Urbana, Ill.
He is also survived by one sister, Betty Jane Lash of McMechen; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Betsy Jane Craig.
Skip served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Palau. He retired from CSX as a railroad engineer and road foreman. He was employed as the officer manager for CMS Inc. of Sommerville.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3655, Grand Lodge AF&AM of Flushing, Ohio, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite, Osiris Temple Shrine Club of Wheeling, Dorchester Shrine Club and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Skip remained a true West Virginian in heart and was a loyal West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. He will be sadly missed by his family and Jose, his dog and constant companion.
Visitation will be Friday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Interment will be in a private family ceremony.
