Charles T. Cross 1941-2003 Obituary
Charles Thomas Cross, 61, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Tuesday morning, May 13, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He had been in declining health for many years and death was attributed to diabetes.
He was born July 6, 1941, in Moore, a son of the late Thomas Cross and Bertha Summerfield Cross.
On Sept. 21, 1963, in Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Barbara Catherine Barkley, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Kevin Charles Cross and wife, Donna, of Parsons; one daughter, Tammy Lynn Robbins and husband, Jay, of Elkins; three brothers, Omer Cross and wife, Ann, of Moore, Howard Cross and wife, Ada, of Montrose, and Joey Cross of Moore; three sisters, Beulah Reynolds of Parsons, Violet Martin and husband, Merel, and Lori Vance and husband, Richard, all of Montrose; and three grandchildren, Haley Robbins of Elkins, and Candy and Lacey Cross of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Cross and Oaky Cross.
He attended the school at Moore and Parsons High School.
He was a former employee of the Parsons Tannery, Ricottilli Lumber and retired in 1989 as a coal miner.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. He was an avid metal detector and coin collector.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday morning, Mr. Cross will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at Parsons, where final rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Fuller and the Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons. The Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Charles Thomas Cross.
