Jenny Currence 1933-2003 Obituary
Jenny A. Simmons Currence, 70, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at her residence after a long fight with cancer.
She was born May 13, 1933, at Valley Head, the daughter of the late Marvin and Zeddie Hamrick Simmons.
On Dec. 25, 1949, in Valley Head by the Rev. Nay, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Currence, who survives in Mill Creek.
They would have celebrated their 54th anniversary on Christmas Day of this year.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Valerie Danzig of Elkins; one son, Billy Currence and a special daughter-in-law, Lisa; three sisters, Olive Arbogast of Mill Creek, Rosa Weese of Beverly and Lucille Hogan of Ohio; and one brother, Sherman Simmons of Kansas.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Brian Wood, Brad Wood, Chad Currence, Craig Currence, Joshua Currence and Katrina Currence; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Wood, Tyler Wood, Elizabeth Wood and Katelyn Wood.
Preceding her in death besides her parents were one sister, Sylvia Sharp; two brothers, Homer and Wilford Simmons; and one grandson, Shawn Currence.
Jenny was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will always be in their hearts and greatly missed, not only by her family but also by the lives she touched
Mrs. Currence was a homemaker, loved to garden and loved all flowers. She attended the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday after 6 p.m. On Monday, Mrs. Currence will be moved to the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour.
The Revs. Frank Long and Randy Long, pastors of the church, and the Rev. Verl Simmons, pastor of the Mill Creek Methodist Charge, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
