Robert Lee “Bob” Curtis, 67, a resident of Ferguson Road, Elkins, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at 8:25 p.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

He had been in failing health for the past three years, however, his condition had become critical since suffering a severe stroke on Jan. 13, 2003.

He was born May 30, 1935, at Weston, a son of the late Bailey B. and Stelma G. Waggoner Curtis.

He is survived by two daughters, Cecilia “Patty” Curtis and companion, David A. McCarty and Sherrie Lyne Curtis, both of Elkins; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Curtis and companion, Betty, of Stalnaker Run, and William Bradley “Brad” Curtis and wife, Barbara “Bobbi”, of Elkins; and two sisters, Charlotte “Butch” Rainey of Buckhannon, and Sandra Louk of Cleveland, Ohio.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Linda Lutisha and Crystal Elaine Curtis, Carolyn Nicole Lamb, Mariah Faith Curtis, Andrew “Andy” Coleman Story, Rocky, JJ, Sheryl and Tabitha Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents is one son, infant Kenneth Lee Curtis.

He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1953. He was a blueprint engineer for the West Virginia State Department of Highways for several years and retired in 1997 from Coastal Lumber Co. as a boiler man.

He was an avid Model builder and outdoors man.

He was an enthusiast of the Civil War.

He attended the Crystal Springs Community Church and was a Methodist by faith.

He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict for 12 years.

When he was discharged he joined the National Guard, where he remained on active duty until retiring.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Pastor Terry Cannon of the Believers Fellowship and the Shiloh Baptist Church will officiate.

Entombment will follow.

Full military services will be accorded by the Tygart Valley Post 3647 and the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion at the site of the Mausoleum.
