Betty E. Daugherty 1928-2003 Obituary
Betty E. Daugherty, 75, a resident of 500 Market St., Grafton, and a former resident of Route 1, Box 319, Philippi, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Wallace B. Murphy Nursing Home.
She was born March 30, 1928, in Belington, a daughter of the late Henry and Maryetta Wolfe Harris. She was united in marriage to Eugene Daugherty.
Surviving her are one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Shahan of Philippi; four sons, Davis Farris of Oregon, Tom Farris of Florida, Virgil Daugherty of Philippi, and Michael Daugherty, U.S. Air Force, of Wyoming; two sisters, Alma Ware and Maude Harris of Belington; two brothers, Eugene and Herman Harris of Belington; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bessie Delauder, Minnie Wilson, Mildred McCulla and Mary Farris; and four brothers, Clarence Harris, Clifford Harris, Richard Harris and George Harris.
She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Union Church of Christ.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi. The service hour will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. F.L. “Wink” McQuain officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Bend Cemetery.
