Gertrude C. Daugherty 1906-2003 Obituary
Gertrude C. Daugherty, 97, a resident of Route 4, Union community, Philippi, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, in Mary Carder Personal Care Home following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 1, 1906, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late James and Alice Lou (Golden) Pitman.
She was united in marriage on Sept. 22, 1920, to Charles H. Daugherty, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1977.
Surviving are one son, Homer Junior Daugherty, Union community, Philippi; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers, three grandchildren and two sons, Harold Daugherty and Bobby Lee Daugherty.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7 p.m. today, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, the funeral hour.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Interment will follow in Pitman Cemetery.
