Jim Davis 1939-2003 Obituary
Jim Davis, 63, a resident of the Audra Road in Belington, departed this life in the comforts of his home at 4:07 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003.
He had been in failing health for quite some time and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Oct. 2, 1939, at Belington, the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy Marie Herron Davis.
On Oct. 5, 1998, he was united in marriage to the former Stella Martin, who survives at their home.
He is also survived by two sons, Ricky Dean Davis and Timothy Darl Davis, both of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one daughter, Kathy Sue Rogers and husband, Mark, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; one brother, Pete Davis and wife, Dianne, of Belington; one sister, Connie Harris and husband, Bo, of Elizabeth; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his former wife, Janet Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Davis, who raised him; and one sister, Carolyn Elaine Davis.
Mr. Davis attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Belington High School class of 1957.
He was formerly employed as a foreman with the Norton Co. in Akron, Ohio, retiring in 1991 after 21 years of service.
He faithfully attended the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday until noon, at which time he will be moved to the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour.
Final rites will be conducted with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Lovett Chapel Cemetery near Belington.
The family asks in lieu of flowers for memorial contributions be made to the Light of Christ Chapel Building Fund, PO Box 603, Belington, W.Va., 26250, in memory of Mr. Davis.
