Melvin Austin Dilley 1919-2003 Obituary
Melvin Austin Dilley, 83, a resident of Elkins and more recently a resident of Swisher’s Private Home Care at Diamond Street for the past 2 1/2 years, departed this life late Saturday evening, March, 1, 2003, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
He had been in declining health and his death was attributed to pneumonia.
He was born on Thursday, Aug. 7, 1919, at Mingo, the son of the late Austin William Dilley and Iva Merle Wood Dilley.
He had never married. Surviving are one brother, Max Eugene Dilley, Elkins; one sister, Leona Zoe Rainey, Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was one brother, Raymond Jay Dilley.
Melvin attended the schools of Durbin and served with the U.S. Army during World War II, where he became disabled.
He was a Protestant.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Beverly Cemetery in Beverly.
The Rev. Gloria M. Roy will officiate and interment will follow.
