Marguerite J. Freeman 1914-2003 Obituary
Marguerite Jane Freeman, 88, of Route 1, Moatsville, died Tuesday morning, March 18, 2003, at the home of a daughter in Scottsboro, Ala.
Her death followed an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 19, 1914, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Thomas Alexander and Dora Catherine Ritter Cline.
Her husband, Ira Delbert Freeman, preceded her in death on May 31, 1950.
Surviving are three daughters, Wilma Davis and husband, Dwight, Camp Mahonegan, Genalee Shuman and husband, Raymond W. Jordan, Utah, and Loretta P. Norris and husband, James, Scottsboro, Ala; four sons, Murl R. Freeman and wife, Nancy, Thornton, Lowell C. Freeman and wife, Shirley, Ira D. Freeman and wife, Jean, and Gary R. Freeman and wife, Wanda, all of Moatsville; one brother, Dowden Cline, Jacksboro, Tenn.; one sister, Myrtle Haller Moore, Montrose; 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Darl Freeman; two sisters, Mabel V. Moats and Gretchen Madeline Cline; and two brothers, Thelmar Cline and Thomas A. Cline.
Mrs. Freeman was a retired cook and had worked in several area restaurants including the Philippi Inn, the Del Mar Restaurant and the Tavern Restaurant.
While residing in Alabama, she attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Freeman was an avid church goer and loved singing in church. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed quilting.
Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Crawford of Scottsboro, Ala., and the Rev. W.F. Boylen officiating.
Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. From 20 Mar 2003.
