Ramon D. Freeman 1924-2003 Obituary
Ramon Durl Freeman, 77, of Route 2, Belington, died Sunday, Oct. 19, in the Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 2, 1925, at Moatsville, a son of the late Coda Ray and Hazel Moore Freeman.
On Aug. 20, 1949, he married the former Ina Grace Price, who preceded him in death on May 27, 2002.
Surviving are one son, Wayne D. Freeman and wife, Judy, of Belington; three daughters, Macel Louise Auvil and husband, Roger, and Gracie Marie Freeman, all of Philippi, and Judy Ann Hymes and husband, Jack, of Belington; five grandchildren, Danielle Ann Auvil of Philippi, Wayne “Scott” Freeman of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Brandi Lynette Hymes and Chasity Louise Ware, both of Belington, and Megan Amber Dadisman of Philippi; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Tyler Freeman and Mackenzie Jade Freeman, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Adam Joseph Neal Graham and John Joseph Graham III, both of Belington, Skylar Dawn Ware and Dustin Tyler Ware, both of Belington; eight brothers, Paul Freeman of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Herbert Freeman and wife, Ruth, of Akron, Ohio, Robert Freeman of Columbus, Ga., George “Bud” Freeman and wife, Sandra, of Belington, Tommy Freeman and wife, Dottie, of Montrose, Richard Freeman and wife, Judy, of Philippi, Kenneth Freeman of Thomas, and Sammy Freeman and fiancee, Lulu Lott, of Moatsville; four sisters, Doris Streets of Baltimore, Md., Betty Frey and husband, George, of Moatsville, Colleen Frey and husband, Charles, of Belington, and Anna Lou Shaw of Washington, Pa.
He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Monica Faye and Elizabeth Diane Freeman; one sister, Juanita Bell Freeman; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Freeman; and two brothers-in-law, Harold M. Streets and David Shaw.
Mr. Freeman was a retired coal miner and served as minister of the Moatsville Free Gospel Church for 40 years. He attended the Moatsville Free Gospel Church and regularly attended services at Cortland Acres. He enjoyed farming, ministering and helping his neighbors.
Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home from noon until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday when Mr. Freeman will be moved to the Moatsville Free Gospel Church where friends may call from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Foster Williams Jr. will officiate and interment will follow in the Central Chapel Cemetery.
